Of the hundred or so exhibitors at this year’s BlogHer conference, since it was a blogging conference geared to women, the booths were geared to moms and families. Sprout was onhand to share all about their latest programming, and even distribute a few cool branded notebooks, coloring books, cups. My guy is sort of obsessed with Chica, so we’ve set aside our Chica cup to use to organize pencils and pens in his new room.
The reps at the booth told me the latest about the preschooler-geared programming and Sprout’s Fifth upcoming birthday. To celebrate this milestone, Sprout announced that they’re debuting a new series called Noodle and Doodle to be hosted by Sean, a familiar face from the Sunny Side Up Show. Noodle and Doodle, which is Sprout’s first original series, will focus on family activities such as, craft, cook and play.
According to Gael Levin-Simon, an educational consultant, Sprout’s Noodle and Doodle can be tagged as “real life learning.”
Noodle and Doodle is said to merge with real life learning, in that it reflects a preschoolers’ requests and picks activities that are directly related to what preschoolers care about while being inspirational to parents.
Having only checked out small vignettes of the show, I’m certain this new series is right up our alley. In fact, while I was at BlogHer and the husband was on dad duty, one afternoon while watching Sprout, the kid saw a segment on making kid-friendly jewelry. And from which, he proceeded to beg daddy to “make a bracelet for mommy.” From that segment, my two guys ventured out to the craft store to make their own jewelry, and also adding a beautiful shell that they hand-picked from the beach the day before.
After a weekend away, I was greeted by my guys with a beautiful handmade necklace, inspired by one of Sprout’s crafts segments; I can only imagine the cool cooking and crafty activities that this new show will inspire. With my shell necklace ready to be framed and my craft closet stocked, I’m on board for Sprout’s real life learning and for the upcoming debut of Noodle and Doodle.
Noodle and Doodle is slated to debut on Saturday, September 25 at 9:00 a.m.
