Get ready to brush off the grill, and break out your aprons and grilling tools. Not only is May National BBQ Month, but with Memorial Day right around the corner, backyard BBQ season is about to go into full swing.
This year, the kids can get a head start on honing their grilling skills with Hape’s new My Backyard BBQ Set. The set features a variety of spot-on details, like the hood that opens and closes, as well as a collapsible side table and wheels—just like the real thing. The wood Backyard BBQ Set, which is part of Hape’s Educo line, features non-toxic paints.
And what’s a BBQ chef without their accoutrements? Hape also offers the My Backyard BBQ Fix’ins Starter Set, which is comprised of ketchup, mustard, tongs, fish, kabobs and what else–meat! The Fix’ins are made of maple and use non-toxic paints.
As you know, I’m a huge fan of wooden toys and playsets, so this set won me over. I first saw it at Toy Fair and fell in love. I love that it’s gender neutral; grilling, afterall, can be enjoyed by everyone. This set is a great alternative to the plastic sets, and one that I’m sure would be played with for years, even after BBQ season has passed.
I had a hard time finding the BBQ Set online, I’m guessing, because it’s still so new. It looks like the BBQ Set is in the $120 pricepoint and the Fix’ins set retails for $30, and can be found at retailers online like ChildTrek.
