Stokke Rolls Out More Features for Xplory

At the Baby Issue Event, I had the chance to take a peek at the new Stokke Xplory, and it made quite the impression.  On first impression, it was easy to maneuver and I loved the head-turning purple shade.

Since being introduced in 2003, the Stokke Xplory has been a popular fixture on NYC streets.  With their eye-catching color and unique design that elevates kids higher up from the ground, the Xplory is hard to miss.  This year, Stokke is enhancing the Xplory strollers with new fabric options, which are described to cushion the seat more to give it more of a cocoon-like feel.

As owners of the Sleepi Crib System, Stokke is a brand that our family has loved since the baby days. One of the main selling points for the Sleepi, in addition to its ability to accommodate small spaces, is that its design emulated the womb with the oval shape.  Both the bassinet and crib made the kid feel close, with that same cocoon-like feel that the Xplory is designed to offer.

The Xplory’s other features include the quick fold visor, an additional retractable shade and a bigger, removable storage bag. The new canopy provides more ventilation and complement the sleep, rest, and active seat positions, which remain unchanged.

Like most high end strollers, the Stokke Xplory has a plethora of accessories, which come in handy for those of us who consider strollers another family vehicle.  The Xplory Rider is a riding board for toddlers to stand on, or piggyback in front of the stroller. It’s intended for use with only one child at a time and is suitable from approximately two years of age.  Maximum weight limit is 44 lbs.

As far as accessories go, I love the sound of the Summer  Kit, which is a lighter, ventilated summer sun roof that protects while allowing more air—a stroller sunroof of sorts.  A summer sun-sail and parasol and a terrycloth seat insert complete the summer kit.  The Stokke Xplory Summer Kit offers SPF 50 protection and is available in sand, blue and pink patterns.

A few aspects of the Xplory that I wish I’d looked at are the wheels and suspension–two characteristics that we consider extremely important for daily city usage.  Aside from those, the Xplory is another option for families on the go, especially those who use strollers frequently.  In the $1,000 pricepoint, Xplory has a lot to offer and then some.
