Making S’mores Over Camp Bondfire

We’ve been in the suburbs now for almost two years, and as much as I’m reluctant to admit: I’m embracing it to the fullest.  The kids have space, the husband has a yard to cultivate and call his own and I have a happy family.  It’s the summertime that’s the absolute best, though.  We live in a lake community, enjoy the fun outings and have our own little family traditions at home, including grilling outdoors and, of course, making S’mores.

Hershey’s has a fabulous campaign going on right now, called HERSHEY’S CAMP BONDFIRE, and it totally hits home.  Since we’ve become suburbanites, S’mores have been part of our family bonding, so I couldn’t think of a more appropriate campaign to be a part of!

There’s a total art to the S’mores-making around here.  We find the stick, secure the marshmallow and roast until just so.

Once the marshmallow is complete, it’s on…we all fix our S’mores according to our specific tastes, and voila!  S’mores have become part of our evening quality time in the summer AND a way for us enjoy dessert on the cheap.
The best parts, though, are that it’s always done outdoor, so there’s no major cleanup.  And, better yet, the four year old can do it on his own now!  It’s ideal. I just break out the hose for the marshmallowy, sticky cleanup, and we’re good.  No, really.

Now that school’s out and our calendars are starting to wind down, we’re looking forward to making S’mores daily.  After we finish up the pack that Hershey’s sent us, you better believe that I’ll be stocking up on S’mores supplies at Costco!
