TempleTouch: Convenient and Non-Invasive Thermometer

We all probably have an arsenal of medicine, homeopathic remedies and gadgets in our medicine cabinet to help ease our little ones’ illnesses.  One gadget, however, I’ve found that’s always either hit or miss: the thermometer.

Because my husband works in the health and beauty sector, as I’ve mentioned, I often get a chance to sample some of the latest products, and that includes a slew of lackluster thermometers.  They either take too long, are inaccurate or inconvenient to use for a small child.  Sadly, I have yet to find a thermometer that’s affordable and also works well.

While visiting the MomSelect Swag Suite, I visited the Temple Touch table, and like the cynic I am, I was reluctant to try it.  Afterall, after trying at least 15 or so mediocre thermometers, how could this one be different?

Well, it is.

All of the thermometers I’ve tried in the past were oral or underarm thermometers.  As the Temple Touch eludes, this thermometer is a non-invasive temporal thermometer,  similar to our pediatrician’s office.  Since we’re staying with family, with three kids in the house, over the past few weeks, the kids have been alternating slight illnesses.  From the noticeable runny nose and a mention of a “headache,” it looks like it’s my guy’s turn today.

I broke open Temple Touch Premium thermometer, even at first sight, the kid, who normally breaks down at the sight of our other thermometers, was actually willing to have his temperature taken with this one.  The thermometer turns on and off swiftly, and quite easily.   The ergonomic shape also adds to the ease of use—convenient if you have a struggle.  As the directions and website indicate, it takes less than 10 seconds to get a reading.  And from what we can tell, for the most part the Temple Touch seems to be accurate.

The Temple Touch Premium can be used on the temple and the underarm.  The specific thermometer also reads room temperature, includes a handy timer (in case you need to apply certain meds/treatments for a certain amount of time) and can be read in both Celsius and Fahrenheit.

After multiple less-than-favorable experiences with other thermometers, my first impression of the Temple Touch Premium is that its a convenient option for non-invasive temperature readings.  If you have a wiggler, a little one that puts up a fight, or just need a quick and accurate thermometer, the Temple Touch is worth checking out.  Those few seconds to read a temperature can be a sanity-saver.

The Temple Touch also comes in the mini, which would be ideal for travel and costs about $10 at Wal-Mart.  The Temple Touch Premium retails for about $30 and can be found at Walgreens.
