Do Good Day in NYC Celebrates Random Acts of Kindness

A few weeks ago, on July 14, I had the distinct pleasure of participating in Do Good Day in NYC.  As part of a campaign for 77kids, American Eagle’s new kid and baby line and retail store, The Motherhood tapped 77 mom bloggers to spread random acts of kindness in our communities.  As part of my birthday celebration, together with some other wonderful blogger friends, I was so fortunate to be a part of the NYC team.

Before we set out to do our good deeds in NYC, American Eagle invited us to take a look at their 77kids showroom in midtown. The 77kids had an impressive setup, complete with design inspirations spread across one wall and a sampling of some of the cool clothes from the current 77kids line.

As I mentioned before, I’ve always been a huge fan of American Eagle, so I was extremely excited to check out the line in person.  The clothes, which range from babies to bigger kids, reflect the same cool, slightly rugged and edgy look that makes AE so likable.  The pieces they had out truly reflect that fun, edgy and casual look that I normally buy for the boy.  I loved that girls’ pieces are age-appropriate, bold and eclectic.  AE hasn’t forgotten the babes, either.  They’ve partnered with a few companies to bring some exclusive pieces for 77kids.  The Aden + Anais muslin swaddle wraps definitely caught my eye.  (hello, cool robots!)

If there was ever a low-key way to give back AND celebrate my birthday, I’d have to say, participating in Do Good Day was it.  After a few location debacles, my teammates and I handed out gorgeous flowers to unsuspecting NYers right around Grand Central.  It was fun and eye-opening to hand out free flowers and dollar bills for Do Good Day to random people, especially NYers who are typically pegged as being cynical.  DSCF5369DSCF5368

Businessmen and women, students, families—anyone who passed our team—was subjected to our flowers brigade.  And for the most part, everyone was surprised and touched by the kind gesture.  Of course, there were a handful of skeptical people who shrugged or crossed the street to avoid us altogether.  Perhaps, one of the most memorable parts of the day was that the kiddo tagged along, and not only was a sport throughout the afternoon, but he absolutely loved interacting with NYers by handing out flowers.

Truly, Do Good Day was such a fabulous way to spend my day, but also share and celebrate the goodness that exists in our community.

A big thank you to The Motherhood and 77kids for asking me to participate in this wonderful campaign!

Disclosure:  I will be receiving a stipend for my participation in this campaign.
