Spotlight: Regal Lager, gr8x, Diaper Dékor

Regal Lager is a distributor of great baby and children’s products, many that we all know and love. The Georgia-based family run company distributes brands that offer practical, stylish, well-designed, and safe products, including Diaper Dékor, gr8x and Lascal Buggy Boards, among others.

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to attend the Big City Mom’s Biggest Baby Shower event. Clearly, I’m not pregnant, but instead, I went for this baby, this new blog here. I have never seen so many pregnant women together in one location, but better yet, it was the biggest collection of awesome baby and kid gear. It was total chaos, what with wall to wall shopping fanatics, enthusiastic city moms, food and mocktails. But, it was pretty cool to learn about so many new products, including those from Regal Lager. Coming home with bags of swag isn’t too bad either (much of which I’m giving away here on NKT!)

But one of the few items that I’m keeping deserves a review: the gr8x messenger diaper bag . You see the same brand of diaper bags hung on strollers around here, but the gr8x messenger bag diaper bag is one that I’d never seen or even heard about.

On first impression, I knew this bag was meant to be mine—it was black, durable vinyl, didn’t look too diaper bag-ish and had pockets galore. I mean, all the pockets and compartments a girl could ever want. In one of those many pockets, on the side, we discovered an insulated bottle pocket, or in our case, sippy cup holder. In addition to all the handy dandy pockets, we found that it included a waterproof changing pad in its own pouch. It also has its own adorable detachable pacifier pouch. gr8x didn’t miss a beat on this one!

On the back of the bag, there are even more pockets. One pocket was the perfect size to hold wipes, the other for a cell phone. (Cell phone pocket on side=ingenious idea for this hot mess who never knows where to find her cell phone at any given time, including now.) The straps are wide and adjustable, perfect for those whose bags get so heavy because they double as purses, murses, and overnight bags. The bag even comes with convenient stroller straps, allowing easy, but secure access while hung on the stroller handles.  The front pockets have dedicated spots for keys, change and whatever else that could get lost in the pit that often becomes your diaper bag. The interior of the bag is the perfect size; it’s spacious enough to carry all of your needs for a newborn, and ideal to carry toys, snacks and a few diapers for toddlers.

The buckles on the front make it look modern and doesn’t scream “I own mom jeans.” I love the fact that it’s not girly-girl at all. The hubs can carry it without compromising his dignity. Our other diaper bag, though not girly either, the hubs handles the bag with two fingers when he carries it, as if it contains biohazard waste. The only giveaway that it could be a diaper bag is when it’s hung over the stroller handles.

Retailing around $100, the pricetag might be the the only caveat of this bag for me. It’s a little more than I’m willing to pay for a diaper bag, but then again, you get what you pay for; and this is certainly a bag that we’ll use for years and future kid(s) to come. It’s a timeless style, extremely durable and very practical. The gr8x diaper bags come in various styles–from hobos, to satchels to totes.  Whatever your taste might be, there’s bound to be a stylish design to suit you.  Though born in Australia, the gr8x brand is sure to be the next big brand in diaper bags stateside.

The gr8x diaper bags can be found at various retailers and online as well.

And as we all know, parenthood isn’t all puppy dogs and rainbows–there’s poop, too.
And when dealing with all the undesirable facets of parenthood, thank goodness there are well designed products to get us through it. Namely great diaper disposal systems.

Diaper Dékor Disposal System, a staple in many modern nurseries, has incorporated new designs and functionality. The new oval design is simple and classic, making it appropriate for any style nursery. The Dékor features a rubber sealed trap door to contain to keep the stench at bay. I like the fact that there are no batteries or filters to replace and tossing diapers is all handsfree. The less contact, the better!

The Dékor diaper disposal system comes in three sizes: the Dékor (regular size), the Dékor Plus and the Dékor XL. Dékor Plus can hold up to 40 diapers before the bag needs to be emptied. And it’s good to know that the Dékor Plus refills are biodegradable and break down faster than plastic. Now, that’s a lot of poop.

Regal Lager is giving a Dékor Plus to a Next Kid Thing reader!
